BARCELONA: THIS SUMMER’S HOTTEST FESTIVAL DESTINATION

As the warmer weather starts to approach, thoughts are turning towards long summer evenings and the chance to kick back and relax in the sun. This year, head towards the beautiful beaches of Barcelona to experience festival culture like no other: from July 12 to 14, the Cruïlla Music Festival will take over the city’s most impressive waterfront venue, the Parc del Fòrum.

Situated in the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Diagonal Mar, this outdoor concert space measures a huge 7,000m2, stretching from Plaça Leonardo Da Vinci to the shores of the stunning Balearic Sea. And for the 9th edition of the Cruïlla Festival, nearly 40 live shows will take place across different locations throughout the venue.

The festival boasts a sensational line-up, with headliners Jack White, The Roots, and Kygo joining a star-studded array of other acts, including Ben Howard and Chase & Status. Whether you’re into drum & bass or indie rock, the weekend is guaranteed to offer something for everyone. Chill-out zones will also be dotted across the festival, giving concert-goers a much-needed break from the action, whilst artisan food markets will be on hand to provide tasty local cuisine from across the world.

Cruïlla is just one of the nine music festivals set to hit Barcelona this season – the city’s Mediterranean climate and vibrant culture have made it an increasingly popular destination over the past few decades. Lovers of electronic music can head towards L’Hospitalet for Sónar, an event whose previous line-ups have included Björk and Nina Kraviz, whilst funk fans should check out the International Jazz Festival of Barcelona, which is set to take over various locations across the city.
