SPLENDID 9TH CENTURY LITTLE CASTLE IN PÉRIGORD – MERLOT

SPLENDID 9th CENTURY LITTLE CASTLE IN PÉRIGORD

The surrounding landscape is classified and preserved from urbanisation. This magnificent little castle is located on a headland and built on the rock. It overlooks ponds. The landscape is gorgeous and the property site comprises of several entities: the castle and the outbuildings.

The landscape is very relaxing, making it perfect for a family holiday or a managerial Meeting. You will enjoy fishing all sorts of fish from the ponds (carps, roach, crayfish), as well as swim in them.  A boat has been built to take you to the centre of the biggest pond, where you will be able to eat or barbecue. There are also two canoes and a small boat, which you can use to explore the banks or go fishing. While walking around the property, you will be able to admire exceptional views of the castle, pick up mushrooms, discover the wildlife and flora of this beautiful place. There are several outside spaces set up to relax, enjoy a drink or meal.

There are two separate entrances to this castle. The first one is located at the garden level, where you will find a fully equipped kitchen (plancha, oven, etc…), as well as a large dining room. The second entrance is on the other side of the castle and opens onto two big terraces made out of stone (secure swimming pool on one of the terraces).  An original stone staircase leads you to the different parts of the castle. On the ground floor, a huge living room with beautiful stones, comfortable armchairs and a big fireplace, ideal to spend time together in the evenings. On the same floor, you will find a movie theatre with an overhead projector, as well as a smokehouse with a pool table, gaming tables and a library. There is also a toilet and shower on this floor.

On the first floor two beautiful rooms: one overlooking the ponds with a 160cm double bed,a single bed (80cm) and an en suite bathroom with bathtub, washbasin and toilet. The other room overlooks the terraces and has a double bed (140cm), as well as a bathroom.

The second floor, which could be called the youngster’s area, is however also suitable for adults. This floor comprises of a small living room ‘game room’, two bedrooms (one with a 140cm double and 80cm single bed and the other with two 90cm single beds)  and a large bathroom with 2 washbasins, toilets and a shower. Each room has storage for your clothes.

The outbuildings also add charm to this property. In the first annex (the sheepfold), which is stuck to the castle, there are two rooms: one with a big double bed (130cm) and the other a double bed (140cm) on a mezzanine. There is also a shared bathroom with shower and toilet.

The second annex is at the entrance of the park (20 meters from the castle’s entrance). It’s a charming little house with a bright living room with fireplace, a spacious mezzanine with a double bed and a bathroom with a shower and toilet.

Please note that if required we can accommodate two more people on futons.

This magnificent little castle also has a swimming pool on one of the terraces, closed to ensure the security of children, and a tennis court.  The pool is treated and cleaned by the caretakers. A stone barbecue is also available on the terrace with a shaded area to eat lunch. We also have tennis rackets and balls but we suggest you to bring your own if you have any. We have created a French boules (petanque) pitch in the garden, with a swing next to it. We provide the balls for the petanque. You will also find a table tennis table and 4 mountain bikes to ride around the property.

If you wish, the owner will be very happy to share the history of the property and family with you.

4 caretakers and the landlady are there to support, guide you and ensure that you have a memorable stay.
